’ve been waiting for this one! I enjoyed one of the most locally energized stage performances of Louisville, KY when I saw this college boy perform during a competition. He scored quite well with the judges and although he didn’t win the contest he scored high praises from me. Hemi finally delivers a mixtape that I can sink my ears into and I did just that!

It’s clear that Hemi understands the way the hip hop genre is going lately. His flows over these 18 tracks deliver excellent rhymes, punch lines, and occasional deep hitting lyrics. His selection of beats represents his style well. I also like that I can understand what he’s saying. I applaud that he openly admits regularly that he’s young, likes to party and is in a place of learning when it comes to life and the hip hop game.

I suppose this is where I start to get a bit bored. His style from and flow doesn’t differ too much at all and the lyrics do tend to feel repetitive. I also can’t find the same energy listening to him that I witnessed firsthand during a live performance. But like Hemi states he definitely has room to grow and sounds pretty good in his current spot on the learning scale.

I can’t find one track that really blew me away but I also honestly can’t find one that made me feel like crushing my skull. I see tons of potential with Hemi and I see plenty that he has done right. I’ll definitely watch this artist grow. If he can match that adrenalized performance on stage and really get into the deeper meanings of life in his lyrics I’m sure we’ll have another superstar. As for this EP I turn the volume up to a 7. For the record, his live performance gets a high 9!
