I'm thankful I got to see this guy perform. He had a nice crowd, he did more than just stand there and his song quality was more mainstream than underground. Little did I know how much better until I got hold of this CD.

Usually, I'm excited if half an album is worthy of a sit through. But this is the second hip hop CD I got this month where I honestly liked every song.  What's double cool is that Double J bought his own equipment, learned sound engineering on his own and didn't let the negatives of life be his focus. He uses several different beat makers but his homie in Texas is his main cheese.

Double J's beat selection is nearly perfect. He knows his strengths and applies them strongly. His delivery is smooth and it's actually fun to listen to. His lyrics are smart, his punch lines hit most of the time and the satisfaction left is great! While I have no title tracks to present to you in order to represent what I mean I still stand firm that this whole album is a keeper!

What keeps this from being perfect I guess is that at times the themes seem to lack a bit of variety.  I do appreciate different intelligent lyrics to deliver the same overall messages but in this genre I guess that's hard to keep from doing. The important thing is that I believe what he says in his lyrics.

At the end of the album I was totally wowed and definitely recommend anyone who enjoys music to give him a try. I see this one making it big! My volume knob is turned up to a 9 on this one!
