"An evil ceramic doll is there with one of the empty bags..."

3D the KY Great is a Cinematographer right here in Louisville, KY.  He is part of Phat Finga Productions LLC, an all in one Video, Music, Photographic, Editing, Promotion Company. He has a knack for poses, artistic expression and has been part of several local films.

Several people have recommended him for his talents with a camera and since I love to show respect to people and their craft, we're getting some front row info from this talented youngster.

THE INTERVIEW

Daniel/LLM:  What is your favorite pickup line or favorite joke?

3D the Ky Great: Thank you! I don't have a favorite joke or pick up line. Usually, everything comes fresh to me .

Daniel/LLM: I see you're involved in different projects. You also have different monikers.  What is your most common moniker?

3D the Ky Great: Well, I go by 3Dthekygreat for copyrights but people call me 3D so I just run with it.

Daniel/LLM: How did you get involved in cinematography and was this what you initially wanted to do?

Louisville's Photographer

3D the KY Great

3D the Ky Great: I've always wanted to be in filming in general. I never thought I would get this deep into it but the more I practice it the more I love it. I got involved when I was trying to get a video done and this guy threw me the most ridiculous price and, well, here I am.

Daniel/LLM: So tell me exactly what it is you do. I know you wear a lot of different hats.

3D the Ky Great: I am a film director, writer , producer, and production coordinator. I film direct and edit music videos, short films, commercials, model shoots etc.  Sometimes by myself, other times with my crew that consists of 5 other talented members.

Daniel/LLM:  Tell us the films you’ve been a part of.

3D the Ky Great: I have 3 films I was involved with. My first short I was involved with is a film called “Offed” starring Jason Johnson and Quenton Allen. The second is a film called “Interrogation” (not yet released) starring Jason Johnson, Quenton Allen, Earl Malone & Mike Tillman. The third is a film called “Treycation” starring me, Quenton Allen, Jason Johnson & Nitt Pitino.

Daniel/LLM:  Sounds like you have a crew there that sticks together. That’s always nice. Louisville has that 48 hour film project. Tell us a bit about that and your involvement in the one that just happened in July. How did that turn out?

3D the Ky Great: We entered thefilm, Treycation. Basically, they give you a style of film and from that moment you literally have 48hrs to shoot , edit , score and turn in your film. This included 3 things that had to be in the film: a key ring with keys on it having the ring showing , there had to be a character name either Chris or Christy Barlo who was an illustrator and lastly we had to have the line in the movie "It won't happen again, I promise !" Well, do to me messing up the only line we had to remember, we got disqualified. (sighs) But at the same time it was the best experience we ever had and we actually got a lot of exposure even though we got disqualified, including a mention in Louisville.com. So, we did something right I guess. (laughs)

Daniel/LLM: Oh man. That sucks but take the good with the bad! Nice touch! And hopefully, we’ll still get to see that film. I know I want to! So what else do you do? Straight up photography for events? Weddings? Puppet shows?

3D the Ky Great: I do some photography for events ,family pics ,models etc . I’m just really starting to get into filming weddings. They can get out of hand. Pretty much anyone that is serious and wants to work  with me and my organization, Phatfinga Productions, we are ready to work!

Daniel/LLM: I saw a video with you on youtube. Do you also do hip hop music?

3D the Ky Great: Yes. I’m actually a real Hip Hop head.

Daniel/LLM:  Do you blend the two much or is cinematography your hardest hitting dream?

3D the Ky Great: Sure! Why not? My goal is to utilize all my talents. I'm gonna take off somewhere. I work too hard not to.

Daniel/LLM: Well, the pics you submitted for the layout look pretty good. But let’s turn an angle here. If you were to setup the perfect horror scene involving a dog with rabies, a ceramic doll and 3 empty bags of potato chips, how would you do it?

3D the Ky Great: Wow !That's complex. The dog just ate 3 bags of chips and walks into a room. An evil ceramic doll is there with 1 empty bag. It takes off running to another room. Another doll is there with another bag, and so on. I don’t know. That’s just weird. (laughs)

Daniel/LLM: That’s the line I like to hover around, weird. I prefer unique though. Would we see any nude scenes in this movie?

3D the Ky Great: I don't know. I haven't really crossed that boundary for nudity yet. Maybe not in this one but maybe in the near future. You never know.

Daniel/LLM: By this age we’ve all seen a nude ceramic doll. Or at least a plastic one. Some have even gone beyond retail Barbie. (laughs)  Where can people go for more information about you?

3D the Ky Great: People can reach me on facebook, searching threedee mccraney. Twitter @3dlou. Instgram - 3dthekygreat. People can like us on facebook at phatfingaproductions or on YouTube at phatfingaproductions as well.

Daniel/LLM: Let’s say people are reading this and like your sense of humor and the layout of your site. What reasons would people contact you to help them out with a project?

3D the Ky Great: They would contact us because we are professional. Our goal is to bring the public the best quality so you can have the best videos , best pictures, all your filming and photo needs to last a life time. We are growing and want to continue to grow not just in the city but everywhere.

Daniel/LLM: Right on! Is there anything else you would like to add?

3D the Ky Great: I am 3D of phatfingaproductions, a group that takes what we do very serious. If you want to take your photos , videos , weddings , commercials, and more to a professional level please contact us. Only serious inquires please. We want to work.  It’s not a hobby but our job. We just love doing it!

Daniel/LLM: I always ask this last signature style question, so get that creative mind ready.  Let's say you were shooting an epic werewolf scene.  In this scene someone had the balls to take an electric razor and fiercely attack the werewolf with it.  For some ridiculous reason the guy shaved an image of someone's face that was an inspiration to you. Who was the face of, how did the scene end and what movie soundtrack would best go with this situation?

3D the Ky Great: Man, that's wild! Inspiration is a hard thing. I have so many people I look up to. My brother for life and mentor Antonio Pantoja. A lot of people don't know that behind the scenes all the motivation and support he gives me makes me work very hard. My father, for giving me the gift of working hard at whatever I do. He’s the hardest working man I know but the face would half to be my mother. She's always supported everything I do and gives me all the constructive criticism I need to make me get better.

I guess his girl is the person that cut his hair. It’s a full moon. The hair would symbolize his evil strength under the wolf.

The scene would be this handsome guy snaps back to reality. It’s raining hard, his girl is standing there realizing he's back to himself and she hugs him. He says, “I'm sorry.” She says, “I understand.” The camera pans to the sky as clouds cover a full moon. The soundtrack would be “Don’t” by Prince. (laughs)

Daniel/LLM: I could see that working. Thanks for the time and your amazing craft. I look forward to working with you in the future. Take care!

3D the Ky Great: Thanks. You too and we will work together soon. It’s been an amazing year! GOD bless!
